Approximately 57 million people, or almost 23% of the U.S. population, had a disability in 2010 according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Through the ShareNetwork Merchant Package technology, the Merchant is able to showcase their accessibility features and cater to a very under-served sector. In addition to merchants having accessible signage and facilities such as bathrooms and ramps, many merchants are now adopting new technology, including but not limited to beacons, indoor positioning systems and way-finding solutions. By incorporating these technologies into our mobile apps, we can capture and provide meaningful customer analytics to merchants while improving their customer and visitor access and overall shopping experience.
In keeping with our vision to help make this world a better place, we decided to start laying the groundwork to create a more accessible community for a growing population of people with accessibility challenges. For this under-served sector, we have developed "Accessible Points of Presence" that provide helpful information to our members. We call them our "Virtual Guides" in outdoor spaces. With their navigation and positioning capabilities, synced with our revolutionary mobile app, the ShareNetwork is not only able to offer our members' special discounts and deals, but it is able to guide those with special needs to locations such as restrooms, ramps, and other accessible features througout the community. It even provides general navigation assistance using sound or vibrations for those who are impaired.
Every ShareNetwork solution is customized to help your business comply with state and federal accessibility requirements, and help raise the profile of the merchant's venue and bring in more business from new demographics. On top of all this, small businesses can possibly qualify for a tax credit of up to $5,000 a year, that helps offset the cost associated in becoming compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act originally passed in 1990.
